Ireland must have smashed one large mirror at some point in 2006 because since then we’ve had seven years bad look with the weather. But alas the tides have changed and we are finally having some exceptionally lovely weather. I’ve been spending most of time outside reading and basking in the novelty that is the sun. As a result of the Costa del Wexford weather I’ve had to adapt my makeup over the past week to avoid a wicked witch I’m melting look. I’ve ditched the heavy makeup instead opting for a less is more look.
Stila Oil-free Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30 – the big change that my makeup bag has seen is that I’ve swapped my normal foundation for a tinted moisturizer. I’m super pale and I don’t tan at all, ever. Even though my everyday foundation has an SPF of 15 that just wasn’t going to cut it in this sunny weather- not to mention it was practically melting off of my face. I’ve started using the Stila tinted moisturizer which is very hydrating and my skin feels great. It has a light to medium coverage that suits me fine for this weather-I just use some pressed power to combat the dewy look that it gives as I prefer a matte finish always and forever.
Benefit Bella Bamba blusher – I decided to mix up my blushers by changing my normal Nars blush to the mini Bella Bamba blush that I received in a set. I’ve been dying to use it but it just wasn’t working for me during the gloomy winter. It has more of a sunny glow to it than my usual pink/peach colour and suits the weather perfectly.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer – this is more a recent addition than an update. I’ve found that I need more coverage under my eyes than anywhere else on my face and this little beauty instantly brightens and corrects the darkness under my eyes and is great for hiding blemishes- a little bit goes a long way. I’ve been using a tiny bit of it to not only hide any skin sins but also as an extra aid to the tinted moisturizer.
Daisy by Marc Jacobs – although my love of Jo Malone’s Red Roses is eternal I did feel the need to shake things up because although people always compliment me on it after a daily use I just couldn’t smell the roses anymore. Jo has been given a break for a while and after lusting over Daisy for quite sometime I found her on-sale this week in Sam McCauley’s and with gift vouchers to spend it would have been rude not too. Daisy is definitely the perfect summer floral scent for me but I have a sneaky suspicion that I’ll still be using her come Autumn.
Fingers crossed that I get some good use out of these products before the weather breaks! I hope that you are enjoying summer wherever you are just don’t forget the SPF, your skin will thank you in the years to come.
