I never though that I would wear purple lipstick. I always associated a purple pout with goth and grunge culture, something I never ever fitted in with. But when I started to notice berry tones popping up on the runways and in magazines I was instantly won over. Berry and purple tones are so much more flattering on than I ever imagined. I’ve found that most shades suit my skin tone and hair colour perfectly and I’m not alone in my love. Berry hues are the big beauty trend of Autumn/Winter 2013. There are so many shades and brands to choose from but here a few of my current favourites…
Maybelline Color Sensational 455 Mauve-ulous– this was my first foray into purple lipstick and what can I say other than it got me hooked! It’s the darkest shade in my collection meaning I tend to reserve this for my nighttime look as its a bit much for me during the day.
MAC Sheen Supreme Quite The Thing!-In the past I haven’t been a huge fan of MAC’s lipsticks, no matter how hard I tried. I just found the formula too drying on my lips. A few months ago I was in browsing (i.e. playing with) the new products at the MAC counter when this beaut cough my eye. Unlike other MAC lipsticks Sheen Supreme is super moisturising. The colour is somewhere between extreme purple but more mute and wearable. The packaging is also a plus, thinner, sleeker and glossier than normal MAC lipsticks, it’s been a firm favourite.
Maybelline Color Sensational 240 Galactic Mauve– this is my favourite. I wear it most days as it’s such a low maintenance lipstick, I’m never worried about wearing all over my face. This is more pink toned than purple making it a very wearable colour. Maybelline have a fantastic selection of purple toned lipsticks so if you’re feeling this trend they should be your first stop.
Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss 06 Berry Me!-berry tones are my favourite especially in the winter months, I don’t think that you could get and more classy or luxurious. I’m a fan of this lip gloss as it’s probably the easiest way to dip your toes in the berry/purple trend.
