My Everyday Skincare Routine: The Night

When I find a product that I love I tend to stick with it. I’m a creature of habit. That’s why my skincare routine isn’t too different come night. A few of the old reliables are still there but there’s a few added extras. I also take more time in the evening with my routine and really concentrate on making sure that I’ve removed all of my makeup, no matter how tired I may be.

First up is my precleanse. Yes, there are two stages to my cleansing process. The first part is mainly to get rid of my makeup before I begin pampering my skin. I don’t feel like my skin is really clean unless I cleanse it twice. For my precleanse I use Emma Hardie Moringa Balm. I adore this. The balm is solid but then it melts in the hand to become a fabulous oil. This is great for removing eye makeup. It’s also very moisturising so it would be perfect for older or dry skin. I also use this as an overnight mask sometimes similar to the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream plus it doubles as an amazing hair mask if the ends of your hair are really dry. I wash this off with one of the facecloths that comes with the balm. One side is lovely and soft and the other side is a muslin cloth-perfect for exfoliating. Next is my second cleanse-I use my Liz Earle again. I apply a little bit to my damp skin and message it in-then I use my Clarsonic which gives the most ultimate cleanse ever because it really, really cleans your skin. The Clarsonic basically works as an electric tooth brush, but for your face. Another reason that I precleanse when using the Clarsonic is to keep the brushes cleaner because if you use it with your foundation etc. still on you would destroy the bushes and it will save you from having to replace the brushes the whole time. The Clarsonic really keeps my skin in great condition-I can see the difference when I slack on it sometimes and I promptly start using it again. After using the Clarsonic for the minute I give my face a quick splash of water and dry it. I always have a bit (okay, a lot) of eye makeup left, particularly when I’m using Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara, so I use Sephora’s Eye Makeup Remover. This is my holy grail product. No other eye makeup remover works like it. I’m devastated that I can’t get it in Ireland. The reason that I use this after all of my cleansing is to stop myself from having to vicariously remove my eye makeup. The Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm takes off a lot of my eye make up and it’s really gentle in doing so. Then, when I use the eye makeup remover it only has a small job to do. I then finish up by using my two Origins moisturisers like in the morning. Although I love the Gin-Zing moisturiser I have my eye on another one in the Origins family-The Drink Me Up Intensive Moisturiser because I feel like my skin needs that extra push at night especially in the winter. As with my first post if I were to recommend just one product it would be the Emma Hardie Moringa Balm because it’s amazing and great for all skin types.
