I am a self-confessed beauty junky, but would it shock you to know that I keep my makeup look almost always the same? Yep, I am a one-trick pony but after going through so many products over the years if I find something great I tend to stick with it. So, here is a rundown of the products that I use everyday. Sometimes I change one or two things but generally this is the look that I sport most days unless I’m lounging around at home without a scrap of makeup on, which happens regularly.
I use Benefit’s Pore-fessional as a base everyday. I’ve used other primers before but this one is the best for my needs. I have lots of horrible open pores and this smooths out my skin and fills in any unsightly pores. It also evens out my skin-tone which is always a plus when you have high colouring like me. I’ve been using Estee Lauder’s Double Wear since I purchased it a few weeks ago and I have high hopes that it may be the foundation. It gives my skin a lovely luminosity that I haven’t come across before. It also gives great, even coverage and it’s long lasting. I apply it using the Real Techniques Stippling Brush which I love and it’s a great price as opposed to the M.A.C brushes and does the exact same job. I finish off by using powder to set my look. I’m currently using M.A.C Mineralise Skinfinish in Light but I’m not too prissy about which powder I have in my makeup bag. Essence do a great loose powder that I also use.
I mainly use Benefit’s Coar-ista which as the name says is a coral pink but sometimes I switch it up for beauty favourite Nars Orgasm which is more pink but still has speckles of peach. I think both shades really suit a pale complexion but I find that Coar-ista blends in nicer to the skin and is more natural.
Look into my Eyes
My everyday eyeshadow is Kitten by Stila, always and forever. I normally just do a cat eye flick using Dunnes liquid eyeliner but some days I’m adventurous and I use another eyeshadow by Stila, Twig. I then use Rimmel Eye Pencil on my top and bottom waterline. My favourite mascara is Lancôme’ Virtuôse but I also love Benefit’s They’re Real . I mainly reserve this for the nighttime, I have to mix it up – but just once in a while! Both mascaras are polar opposites, Virtuôse gives me a fluttery look whereas They’re Real is very dramatic and really lengthens my lashes. I bought the Über famous Naked 2 palette whilst on an Aer Lingus flight to Barcelona in January. I had wanted it for so long but I actually don’t use it very often. It’s a great kit, as is the original one and 3 is coming soon, but I adore Kitten and Twig so I don’t deviate from them too often.
Without fail everyday I use my Brow-zings by Benefit. This is my holy grail product. Until about 6 months ago I did nothing with my eyebrows which feels like sacrilege now. I don’t do my makeup with out this kit now and if I was only allow one product for the rest of my life I would choose this. It completely changes the whole look of my face. I have naturally bleach blond eyebrows and eyelashes but I tint them dark. I use the medium colour as I have become obsessed with having them quite dark. I’ve converted so many people to Brow-zings so needless to say if you’re going to purchase anything go for this. You won’t regret it. It’s pricey, I know but as you can see I really use this product and after 6 months there’s still a lot left so it’s worth the investment.
I’ve started to wear red lipstick only very recently and my favourite is Kate Moss for Rimmel 107. This is becoming quite the cult product which it deserves. In term of lasting no other lipstick can stand up to it. If I want a more muted look I use Maybelline Color Sensational in 240 Galactic Mauve or Rosebud Salve from the Rosebud Perfume Co. I got a bit panicked about the fact that I purchased it in Sephora but I saw it in Sam McCauley’s Wexford the other day, so big sigh of relief.
