A change of base

Diorskin Nude BB Creme M.A.C Prep+Prime Face Protect SPF 50 Abu Dhabi/Middle East Makeup
As I said in my previous post I had to change up my makeup routine recently, but not just to try help my skin. I found that I was having trouble with my beloved  Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation. You see, Double Wear is just too heavy for this climate. It’s perfect for at home in Ireland, maybe it’s why it’s one of the most popular foundations there, but here in Abu Dhabi it was sliding off two hours after I applied it-something I had never experience before…

My first change was to start applying M.A.C Prep+Prime Face Protect SPF 50 as a base. I love using a primer, Benefit’s POREfessional to be exact, but as with my foundation it just wasn’t working for me here. I also needed something to protect my skin from the intense sun in Abu Dhabi. I was very hesitant about using a suncream on my face for fear it would be oily and break me out but this M.A.C suncream and primer is amazing. It gives a matte finish that dries instantly so you’re not waiting around to apply your base. After some testing I’ve also found that it makes my top base last a whole lot longer. It’s definitely something that I’m going to stick with even when I do leave The Middle East because SPF is something we should all be wearing everyday regardless of where we live. Before now I was just relying on the SPF 15 that comes in a lot of foundations which just doesn’t cut it.
For work I wanted a light, long lasting, even base. After much debating I decided to go with Diorskin Nude BB Creme. It’s more of a tinted moisturiser than foundation with skin-care properties. This is a dream for when I’m rushing to get ready most mornings. It works best applied with fingers so there’s no messing around with brushes. In terms of coverage it’s somewhere between light and medium, but it’s great for colour correction. Longevity wise it does last but I wish that there was more of a matte finish to it, but seeing as it is a BB cream it was always going to have a sheen to it. For the daytime it’s perfect, but I’m on the hunt for a different foundation with more coverage so I can go between both as I need.
